Well after a lovely weekend with Rob and Chris in the East Midlands and a week fo riding to work, I've had a weekend of doing pretty much nothing it's been grand. Commuting again tommorrow which is par for the course I expect to feel not quite so jaded after a break from the bike. The rest of August and Septembers weekend have now been accounted for they appear to be almost equally spread between riding bikes and drinking beer which is a nice way to end the summer. I've worked out the component spec for my cross bike as well, next year really will have to be the year of bigger miles, winter training has been planned already...   Read the rest of the entry...

France is ace, I've seen grass and trees, drunk wine eaten cheese and pastries and just relaxed pretty much constantly since Wednesday morning. French railways really are a thing of utter wonder we're stuck with tiny rammed trains, and they have eighteen carriage long engine hauled behemoths with proper AC toilets and reclining seats, oh that run to schedule as well. What's even more galling is that Eurostar is pretty good as well and that's private and runs in the UK, so how is everything else just such utter rubbish... Oooh I've seen a Dolmen at Doberry and a nedieval town at St Benoit, oh I've seen fabulous Limoges poreclain as well, good relaxing fun. On a future not the country in the Limousin looks like it will be lots of fun on a cross bike, as there's a lovely mixture of quiet back roads and dirt roads, perhaps too many dirt roads to explore on a road bike but not enough offroad action really to want to be slowed down on a mountain bike.   Read the rest of the entry...

Well it was wet and miserable by the time I thought I might ride yesterday so I didn't, I didn't ride today either, just no mojo at all really, bit of a shame but it's good to have a break I reckon. off to France on Wednesday to stay with my folks and their hounds near Limoges, I'm lookinng forward to a week of sun, pastries, cheese, walking and relaxing, oh and lots of wine... Although I've not done any actual riding, I think I've pretty much worked out the specification for my new cross bike, hopefully it'll get ordered in just under a fortnight and should arrive in the early part of next year, a bit late for cross season but hopefully in time for Easter.   Read the rest of the entry...
